FERGUS FALLS, MN – Another solid showing by the Valley City State golf teams. The men place second in the meet while
Sydney Carlson takes the top spot on the for the women at the Spartan Invite in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
On the men's side, Junior
Zach St. Aubin had a strong second day to finish with a two-day total of 154 (81-73), which was good enough for 5
th place. Freshman
John Renaud shot a 156 (75-81) for an 8
th place finish. Junior
Owen Haase was right behind Renaud with a 157 (85-72) for 9
th place. Freshman
Nick Meisch had a 159 (79-80) and was tied for 11
th. Senior
Wyatt Meisch carded a 160 (78-82) to tie for 13
th. Sophomore
Howard Neustel shot a 184 (91-93) for 29
th place while Freshman
Tony Piccalo shot a 195 (98-97) for 34
th.
As a team, the Vikings finished with a two-day total 619 (313-306) to place second behind Alexandria Tech by six strokes.
Erik Bjorndahl of Mayville State was the medalist with a 143 (72-71).
On the women's side, three of the top six finishers were Vikings. Senior
Sydney Carlson was medalist with a two-day total of 159 (77-82). Two shots behind her was teammate
Sadie Neustel. The freshman carded a career best two-day total of 161 (77-84). He 77 on day one was also a career best.
Winter Oldrock was sixth with a 188 (98-90).
