DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Sadie Neustel placed 12th to lead the Valley City State University women's golf team, while Nick Meisch tied for 22nd to pace the Viking men at the Comets Frontier Invitational, held Sept. 21–22 at Wildflower Golf Course.
The VCSU women tied Mayville State for sixth place in the eight-team field with a two-round score of 740. The Vikings shot 370 in each round. Neustel opened with an 85 and improved to a 79 on Tuesday, finishing at 164. Isabella Schlick tied for 27th at 186 (92–94), Ally Larson tied for 31st at 192 (94–98), and Olivia Kalbus placed 37th at 198 (99–99). Rocky Mountain won the women's team title.
The Viking men placed seventh of eight teams with a three-round score of 946. After rounds of 315 and 326 on Monday, VCSU closed with its best team round of the tournament, a 305 on Tuesday.
Meisch led the men at 234 (81–78–75), improving in each round and tying for 22nd. Owen Haase followed in 24th at 235 (75–81–79). Noah Stockdill tied for 32nd at 243 (78–87–78), and Jace Fyre tied for 35th at 244 (84–87–73). Fyre's closing 73 was VCSU's lowest individual round of the tournament. Dylan Hedge placed 41st at 247 (81–85–81), while Parker Dockter finished 45th at 255 (89–82–84). Rocky Mountain claimed the men's team title.
