The Valley City State golf teams concluded play Wednesday at the DJGA College Shootout hosted at Riverwood Golf Course in Bismarck, highlighted by a third-place finish from
Sydney Carlson. VCSU's women placed fourth while the Viking men finished in seventh.

Carlson finished with a two-day 164 (84-80) and was eight strokes off medalist Ellia Soydara of Dickinson State. VCSU's
Sydney Staus finished in 16
th place with a 193 (99-94) followed by
Kathleen Vetter in 17
th place with a 196 (101-95).
Winter Oldrock posted a 218 (107-111) at the tournament while
Sarah Monilaws finished with a 265 (139-126).

VCSU's women posted a 391 team score to open the tournament and improved its score by 11 strokes to card a 380 in the final round. VCSU posted a 771 to place fourth out of five teams. Dickinson State took the team title with a 669 (344-325).

On the men's side,
Owen Haase and
Zach St. Aubin tied for 17
th place after carding a 169 at the tournament. Haase carded an 84 on day one and 85 on day two while St. Aubin went 86-83. VCSU's
Howard Neustel placed 31
st with a two-day 180 (94-86) followed by
Jacob Hendrickson in 32
nd who carded a 182 (92-90).
Wyatt Meisch rounded out the Viking men with a 191 (97-94).

VCSU finished with a 700 team score after carding a team score of 356 on day one and improving its score to 344 on day two. Jamestown captured the team title with a 599 (297-302). Dickinson State's Blake Barner earned individual medalist honors after firing a 1-over-par 145 (74-71).
