CARRINGTON, N.D. – The Valley City State men's and women's golf teams each recorded season-low team scores, and three Vikings sit in the Top 15 after competing at the NSAA Fall Championships. The tournament featured seven career-best rounds by VCSU golfers, played Sunday and Monday at the par-72 CrossRoads Golf Club in Carrington, N.D.
Owen Haase,
Kathleen Vetter and
Sydney Carlson each sit in the Top 15 after the fall's conference tournament. On the men's side, Haase fired a career-best 75 on Sunday, and then bested it once more with a one-over-par 73 on Monday. His 148 tournament score places him in a tie for 11
th after the fall tournament. For the Viking women, Vetter posted a 159 at the touranment including a career-low 77 on Monday. Vetter leads the Viking women in 12
th place overall. Carlson is in a tie for 15
th with a 165 (83-82).
The Vikings will conclude the NSAA Tournament April 28-29, 2025, at Platteview Golf Course in Bellevue, Neb. The conference tournament will combine scores from the Fall Championships and Spring Championships to make up a 72-hole tournament.
The Viking women sit in fourth place out of five NSAA teams. VCSU carded a 684 at the tournament (348-336). VCSU's 336 team score Monday is a season-low for the Viking women.
Sydney Staus concludes NSAA play in 18
th place after carding a 178, including a career-low 88 in the opening round.
Winter Oldrock carded a 182 (95-87) to sit in 20
th place, and
Savannah Whitman recorded a 196 (95-101) to hold onto 23
rd.
Bellevue's women hold the conference lead after carding an even-par 576 (284-292) at the NSAA Fall Championships. Bruin Maria Pinedo fired a five-under-par 139 (68-71) and holds the individual lead by four strokes.
VCSU's men carded a 664 at the tournament (332-332) after posting a pair of season-low team scores. VCSU is in fifth place out of five teams.
Jacob Hendrickson carded a 169 including a career-low 81 second round to sit in 23
rd place.
Wyatt Meisch totaled a 180 (92-88) and holds onto 23
rd place while
Alex McBride added a 183, including a career-best 90 on Monday, to sit in 24
th place.
Zach St. Aubin fired a career-low 77 on Sunday but had to withdraw and did not register a score Monday.
Bellevue leads the conference after a pair of rounds under-par. The Bruins recorded a 281 (-7) on Sunday and rounded out the Fall Championships with an astounding 269 (-19) on Monday. Bellevue's Thomas Gatlin holds a 5-stroke lead with a 13-under-par 131.
