VCSU golf opened the season at the N.D. College Open, played Thursday at Prairie West Golf Club and Friday at Riverwood Golf Course.

Kathleen Vetter paced the Viking women and finished in a tie for seventh place. She fired a 172 (84-88) in the season opener.

Sydney Carlson posted a pair of 87s and a 10
th place finish.
Sydney Staus finished with a 199 (103-96) to place 14
th, and
Winter Oldrock was just behind her in 15
th place with a 203 (98-105).

Jamestown's Celi Nelson won individual medalist honors by just one stroke over Dickinson's Brooklyn Materi. Nelson carded a two-day 160 (78-80) at the tournament.

On the men's side,
Owen Haase carded a 166 (84-82) to finish in a tie for 18
th place.
Wyatt Meisch remained consistent, carding a 180 (90-90) to place 26
th.
Jacob Hendrickson finished with a 184 (94-90) to finish in 27
th place. VCSU's men each played as individuals at the tournament.

Gehrig Geiss of Jamestown and Lucas Greenlun of U-Mary tied for the individual title after carding a two-day 146. Geiss was the only player to card a round under par, firing a two-under-par 70 on Friday.

UP NEXT: VCSU plays at the Jamestown Country Club for the UJ Fall Invite on Sept. 16-17. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. both days.
