RAPID CITY, S.D. – Valley City State's
Hayley Shanks took a runner-up finish on Tuesday after the VCSU golf teams competed at the Dickinson State Spring Invite. The 36-hole tournament was played Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Golf Club at Red Rocks in Rapid City, S.D.
Shanks finished in second place after carding a 174 at the tournament (92-82). Freshman
Sydney Carlson finished in third place with a two-day 182 (95-87).
On the men's side,
Grant Inniger sat in sole possession of first place after shooting an even-par 72 in the opening round. He finished in eighth place after carding an 83 in the second round for a 155 tournament score.
The Viking women finished 11 strokes behind Dickinson State to finish in second place. VCSU carded a team score of 743 (380-363).
Winter Oldrock finished in seventh place with a 198 (103-95) closely followed by
Sydney Staus in eighth place who carded a 199 (90-109).
Nevaeh Davis rounded out the Vikings with a 206 (107-99) and a ninth-place finish.
Dickinson's Elly LeBlanc fired a 162 (81-81) to earn individual medalist honors.
The Viking men placed third of three teams with a 793 team score (399-394).
Wyatt Meisch finished with a two-day 201 (106-95) to place 12th.
Parker Heydt added a 218 (111-107) to finish 13th and
Henrik Jacobsen carded a 219 (110-109).
Dickinson State's Bryce Reed (73-74) and Hunter Myran (76-71) shared the individual title with a 147 tournament score. Dickinson State took the team title with a 593 (301-292).
