VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State University volleyball team opens the 2026 season with four matches at the Siouxland Invitational in Sioux City, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday.
The Vikings begin the season Friday against Dordt University at 10 a.m. before facing the College of Saint Mary at 4 p.m. VCSU returns to the court Saturday for an 8 a.m. match against Mount Mercy University and closes the weekend against No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan University at 10 a.m.

Back in Sioux City
The Vikings return to the Siouxland Invitational for the third consecutive season. VCSU went 3-1 at the tournament in 2024 and 1-2 in 2025. VCSU finished the 2025 season with a 13-15 overall record and an 11-11 mark in conference play.

Bogenreif Named Player to Watch
Sophomore setter/opposite hitter Madden Bogenreif was named a Frontier Conference Player to Watch entering the 2026 season. The Moorhead, Minnesota, native appeared in 28 matches and 103 sets during her freshman campaign, totaling 536 assists and 241 digs. Bogenreif averaged 5.20 assists and 2.34 digs per set while adding 22 kills and 11 service aces.

VCSU continues its early-season tournament schedule Aug. 28-29 at the Bellevue Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska. The Vikings will face Benedictine University Mesa, Benedictine College and Grand View University.
