VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Valley City State University Volleyball Head Coach
Michelle Meiklejohn who will be in her fourth season at the helm of the Viking Volleyball Program, has announced the schedule for the 2026 volleyball season. It will be the Vikings second season in the Frontier Conference.
The Vikings will begin the season on the road at the Siouxland Invitational in Sioux City, Iowa on Friday August 21
st. They will play Dordt University and the College of St. Mary from Nebraska. The home and conference opener will be Wednesday, September 3
rd against Mayville State.
VCSU will play 22 games in the Frontier Conference season, eleven games at home and eleven games on the road. Teams in the highly competitive Frontier Conference are Bellevue University, Bismarck State College, Carroll College, Dakota State University, Dickinson State University, Mayville State University, Montana State- Northern, Montana Tech, Montana Western, University of Providence, and Rocky Mountain College.
Two teams from the Frontier, the University of Providence and Bellevue won their pool and reached the NAIA National Tournament in Sioux Center, Iowa where they both lost in the quarterfinals. Another 2026 opponent for the Vikings, Dakota Wesleyan, also made it to the National Tournament. They lost in the opening round and did not make it to Iowa.
Special nights for Viking Volleyball will be Hi-Liner Night on September 3
rd versus Mayville State. Faculty and Staff Night on September 4
th when VCSU plays Montana Western. On Thursday, October 1
st, VCSU will have South Central Select Night when they host Bismarck State. Parents Day on Saturday October 17
th and Senior Day on Saturday, November 7
th in the regular season finale against Dakota State.
The Frontier Conference Postseason Tournament will be November 12
th thru the 14
th hosted by Carroll College in Helena, Montana.
