FARGO, N.D. – The Valley City State Vikings Track and Field team were in Fargo Friday and Saturday for the Bison Open. For VCSU, there were 16 personal best set and one third place finish.
On the Men's side, the distance runners had a good meet.
Zach Baumgartner had a personal best in the 800 Meters. Tate Minihan and
Isaac Eichhorst had personal bests in the 1000 Meters.
Mason Brehmer and
Kole Albers had personal bests in the Mile Run.
Baumgartner, Albers, and Brehmer, along with
Brock Norton, took third in the Distance Medley Relay with time of 11:01.87.
In the field events, three throwers had personal bests, all came in the Weight Throw.
Jagger Dickman,
Nevin Daley, and
Kyle Cotton all recorded personal bests.
For the Women,
Jonica Taylor had personal bests in the 300 and 400 Meters.
Peyton Sauter had a PR in the 200 Meters.
Frida Barrera had a personal best in the 600 Meters. Another distance runner,
Billie Maye Pohlkamp had a personal best in the 3000 Meters.
In the field events,
Greta McKenney had personal bests in the Shot Put and the Weight Throw.
Kiana Hilary had a personal best in the Weight Throw as well.
Grace Backstrom accumulated 2,655 points in the Pentathlon which is third best in school history.
Up Next: The Vikings have one meet left before they head to the Frontier Conference Indoor Championships. They will be in Brookings, South Dakota next weekend at the SDSU Indoor Classic.
