ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Valley City State Men's and Women's Track and Field teams were in Aberdeen, South Dakota for the Dewey Donat Classic hosted by Northern State. VCSU and Bismarck State were the only NAIA schools there. The rest were NCAA I and II teams.
The Viking Men and Women placed seventh overall. The Men had two top three finishers, and ten personal bests were set. The Women had one top three placer and nine personal bests set.
For the Men,
Mason Brehmer was third in the 1500 Meters while
Zeke Barnick was second in the Long Jump with a personal best jump of 6.74M.
Both relay teams were fourth and had personal bests. The 4X100 team consists of
Aaron Cutshall,
Tommy Baldwin,
Porter Granger, and
Jordan Mount. The 4x400 team was made up of Mount, Granger,
Brock Norton, and Jeffry Rosinski.
The throwers had a good day with seven personal bests.
Nevin Daley had two personal bests in the Discus and the Hammer.
Jagger Dickman had a personal best in the Discus.
Kyle Cotton and
Brock Norton had personal high-water marks in the Javelin. In the Hammer,
Jacob Lowery and Zac Kuznia reached personal highs.
On the Women's side, Frida Berrera took third in the 800 Meters. For the sprinters,
Peyton Sauter set a new personal best in the 100 Meters. It is the second week in a row that Sauter has set a personal best in the 100 Meters. The 4x100 Relay team of
Olivia Backus,
Jonica Taylor,
Ava Krier, and
Caitlin Armbrust, set a new personal high.
Like the Men, the throwers for the Women had a good day with seven personal records.
Greta McKenney set personal bests in the Discus and the Hammer.
Delaney Cotton set personal bests in the Shot Put and the Hammer.
Rylan Parsley set personal highs in the Shot Put and the Discus.
Rebecca Bohrer set a personal best in the Discus.
