BROOKINGS, S.D. – Valley City State came away with three top three finishes and had four school records set at the 2026 Frontier Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday and Sunday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Indoor Track Complex on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.

As a team, the Viking Men placed seventh overall and the Women placed eighth.

Dickinson State won both the Men's and Women's team titles.

For Valley City State, Frida Barrera continues to re-write the Vikings record book in the distance events. The Freshman from Clara City, Minnesota reset two of her own records in the 800 meters and the 1 Mile, she placed second in both events. In the 800 Meters, she timed in at 2:20.16 seconds, 1.67 better than her previous school mark. In the 1Mile, she finished in a time of 5:16.32, taking 5.29 seconds off her previous record. In the 3000 Meters, Barrera set the school mark with a time of 10:31.18. That was 3.76 seconds better than the school mark set by Karly Just last season.

Carlee Fuchs set the school record in the weight throw with a throw of 15.82 meters. The Junior from Flasher, North Dakota broke Jade Azure's team standard by .56 meters.

On the Men's side, top performers were Jordan Mount who was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.73 m. Cameron Champagnie was right behind in fourth place.

Zeke Barnick placed fifth in the High Jump.
