VALLEY CITY, N.D. – After going 3-1 last weekend at the American State Bank Sports Complex Softball Classic, the Valley City State University Vikings are head back there again this weekend for four more games.

The Vikings will play Morningside University and Briar Cliff on Friday at 12pm and 4pm respectively. Then on Saturday, VCSU will take on Doane University and Northwestern College at 9am and 11am respectively.

The Vikings picked up three wins last weekend to even their record at 4-4 this season. Reigning Frontier Conference Pitcher of the Week Maddie Hazelton led the way in the circle for VCSU. Hazelton picked up two complete games wins over Briar Cliff and the College of Saint Mary. She tossed 14 innings, allowed eight hits, two earned runs and struck out 25 batters. Including a career high 13 against Briar Cliff.

Jenna Decker led the way at the plate with eight hits in 13 at bats for a .615 batting average. She scored four runs and drove in five. All those RBI came in the 16-7 win over Waldorf. Kennadi Stone was 5 for 9 for the weekend with five runs scored and seven RBI. She had a three-run home run in the loss to Dordt. Pascale Kihn was 7 for 14 for a 500-batting average. She scored four times, had two doubles, and drove in two.

Morningside comes into the weekend 2-0 on the season. Briar Cliff is 3-5 on the young season. Doane is 3-3 and Northwestern is 6-2 and ranked 17^th in the nation.

After this weekend, the Vikings will have two weeks off before heading to Tucson, Arizona for ten games over Spring break.
