VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State Softball team will be heading south this weekend for four games. The Vikings will be taking part in the American State Bank Sports Complex Softball Classic in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Classic is hosted by Dordt University.
The Vikings will play Briar Cliff and host Dordt University on Friday. On Saturday, the Vikings play for North Star opponent Waldorf University and College of Saint Mary's from Nebraska.
The Vikings are coming off a 1-3 start to the season after last weekend's games at the Nelson Family Bubble on the campus of the University of Jamestown.
Kylee Banerd hit .429 last weekend with a home run three runs scored, and three RBI.
Avery Kuklinski also hit .429 with two runs scored, and two RBI.
Kennadi Stone hit .385 with a home run and three RBI. Newcomer,
Pascale Kihn hit .400.
Logan Gronberg had a home run, a grand slam home run, and drove in six for the weekend.

Since 2010, Valley City State has won three of four meetings with Briar Cliff. The Vikings have win eight out of twelve games with Dordt since 2014. VCSU has won the last two meetings, both taking place in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Valley City State has had Waldof's number in softball, winning 24 out 28 games. The Vikings have won the last six games and 21 of the last 22. This will be the seventh meeting between the Vikings and the College of Saint Mary's since 2017. The Vikings have won five of the previous six games.
