VALLEY CITY, N.D – Maple River, Barnes County North, all picked up wins on the second day of the 107
th Barnes County Boys' Basketball Tournament at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse on the campus of Valley City State University.
GAME 5: Maple River 44, Richland 31
Maple River jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a 44-31 win over the Colts in the consolation semifinal.
Colby Weshnevski led the Raiders with nine points and added five steals. Blake Theurer added eight points. Damien Norrie had seven points, six rebounds, and five steals. Preston Dows had six points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Trapper Smith chipped in six points.
Owen Sayler had a gamer high ten points to lead Richland. Carson Klein scored six points and Keller von Ruden had six points and five rebounds.
Maple Riber will play Barnes County North in the Fifth-place game on Friday. Due to a scheduling conflict, Richland will not be playing in the seventh-place game. Third ranked Hankinson will play Enderlin instead.
GAME 6: Barnes County North 59, Enderlin 24
Barnes County North broke the game open with a 24-5 run in the first half on the way to the 59-24 win over Enderlin in the second consolation semifinal.
Zayden Roemmich led the Bison with 13 points and added six steals. Jayson Schlenker had twelve points. Grady Barclay had ten points, Ethan Hanson had eight points, Jame Schwehr and Brody Mueller each chipped in seven. Hanson and Schwehr had seven rebounds each.
Karson Gruba led the Eagles with seven points, five rebounds, and two steals.
GAME 7: May-Port CG 68, LaMoure/Litchville-Marion 44
May-Port-CG used a 21-6 first quarter to get off to a good start on the way to a 68-44 win over LaMoure/Litchville-Marion in the first semifinal game of the night.
Bricker Johnson led the Patriots with 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Noah Djibonon scored 17 points. Samuel Weaver scored ten points and added 10 rebounds. Case Judisch chipped in seven points and six rebounds. Wyatt Perkins and Jayd Larson each had five points. Perkins added six assists.
Gunner Thielges led the Loboes with 13 points. Colby Thielges added eleven points. Preston Arndt had seven points and Avery Kramer chipped in six.
GAME 8: Valley City 44, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 42
Valley City outscored Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 17-4 in the third quarter to turn a twelve-point halftime deficit into a one-point lead going into the final eight minutes.
There were six lead changes in the fourth quarter until Valley City went on a 8-3 run to take a four-point lead. Then Finn Dockter made one of two free throws with 3.2 seconds to go to preserve a 44-42 win for the Hi-Liners over Wyndmere-Lidgerwood in the second semifinal game.
Mike Mattson led the Hi-Liners with twelve points and nine rebounds. Finn Dockter had eleven. Zander Compson added eight and Jack Dieterle had eight points and a game high 19 rebounds to go with five blocked shots.
Sebastian Kackman led the Warbirds with 14 points and eleven rebounds. Jaxon Krier had eleven points and four steals. Blaise Frolek and Owen Laddusaw each chipped in five points.
