Vikings have four individual conference titles and 12 All-Conference honors

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Valley City State University track and field team finished the North Star Athletic Association Conference Championships with four individual conference titles and 12 All-Conference performances.
 
The two-day meet was held on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9 in Dickinson, N.D. The Vikings five athletes earn All-Conference honors on day one highlight by conference titles from Karly Just in the 10,000-meter, and Jordan Mount in the 400-meter.

On day two the Vikings claimed two more individual conference titles, had one national qualifier, one school record, and six more All-Conference performances.
 
VCSU's Karly Just earned conference titles in the 5000-meter and 1500-meter capturing three titles in total at the NSAA Championships. Just captured titles in all the individual events she competed in. She was named NSAA Women's Track & Field Athlete-of-the-Meet and NSAA Women's Most Valuable Athlete.
 
Viking Sophomore Olivia Backus successfully cleared 1.66-meter in the high jump, qualifying for nationals, earning NSAA All-Conference honors and second place in the event.
 
Zeke Barnick also earned second and NSAA All-Conference honors in the high jump. Barnick successfully cleared 1.91 meters earning second place.
 
VCSU's Emma Muggli ran a 1:05.31 in the 400-meter hurdles setting the school record and earning third place along with all conference honors. Muggli also took third in the heptathlon at the NSAA Multi-Events Championship earn NSAA All-Conference honors.
 
Jordan Mount earned All-Conference honors in the long jump after a 6.89-meter jump that earned third place.
 
VCSU men took four of five teams earning 73 points at the meet. Viking women took third of five earning 100 points at the meet.

UP NEXT: The Vikings have two national qualifiers in Kendra Odegard and Olivia Backus. They will represent VCSU at the NAIA National Championships held in Marion, Ind. On May 21-23.
