MOORHEAD, MINN. – The Valley City State University track & field team recorded one school record, three first place finishes and 19 top eight finishes at the Cobber Open host by Concordia Moorhead.
The Viking saw competition from Bemidji State, Concordia Moorhead, Hamline, University of Jamestown, and Minnesota State Moorhead.
Viking junior
Karly Just set the school record in the 5000-meter taking first place on the day while running a 17:56.23. Just set the record by over 45 seconds.
Tayshaun Robinson also recorded a first-place finish running a 15.05 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Freshman
Zeke Barnick took first in the high jump clearing 1.98-meters successfully.
The Vikings had four athletes take second place at the Cobber Open.
Olivia Backus took second in the high jump clearing 1.56-meters.
Viking women took second in the 4x100-meter running a 53.32. They ran with
Olivia Backus,
Delaney Cotton,
Klaire Cotton, and
Emma Muggli.
Gage Gunther a freshman took second in the 800-meter running a 2:03.79.
Viking junior
Mason Brehmer finished in second in the 1500-meter running a 4:17.46.
VCSU had one third place finisher in
Zach Baumgartner running the 1500-meter in 4:21.73.
