Valley City State junior Logan Gronberg has been named the North Star Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Abby Blair of Jamestown was selected as the Pitcher-of-the-Week. 

North Star Athletic Association Softball Player-of-the-Week
Logan Gronberg – Valley City State (N.D.) – Junior – pitcher/infielder – Bismarck, N.D. – Gronberg helped Valley City State to a 4-0 start in the North Star Athletic Association, sweeping Dakota State on the road. She batted .688 (11-of-16 at the plate) with two doubles and a home run (1.000 slugging percentage) in the four-game series. She drove in eight runs and scored four times. Gronberg garnered a .706 on-base percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 22 total chances (21 put-outs and an assist; she was included in three double plays defensively).

North Star Athletic Association Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week
Abby Blair – Jamestown (N.D.) – Junior – pitcher – Banks, Ore. – Blair went 2-0 record with an earned run average of 0.00 in the pitching circle as (RV) Jamestown (N.D.) opened the North Star Athletic Association four-game series with a sweep of Mayville State (N.D.).  She tossed two complete games, including a five-hit shutout with four strikeouts.  Blair had a WHIP of 0.75 and held MSU's hitters to a .196 batting average (allowed nine hits and issued no walks).    

Recap from last week's games
Jamestown (N.D.), receiving votes in the latest NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, opened their North Star Athletic Association season with a 4-0 sweep over Mayville State (N.D.) on March 29-30.  The Jimmies extended their winning streak to six games, raising their overall record to 20-9 and 4-0 NSAA conference record.  MSU fell to 6-23 overall record and 0-4 record in the league.

Valley City State (N.D.) also opened their conference season with a 4-0 record sweep on the road at Dakota State (S.D.) on March 27-28.  The Vikings ballooned their winning streak to six games, improving their overall record to 15-12 and 4-0 record in the North Star conference contests.  The Trojans fell to 4-21 overall record and 0-4 NSAA conference record.

Dickinson State (N.D.) went 3-1 record on the road in the North Star Athletic Association four-game series opener at (RV) Bellevue (Neb.) on March 27-28.  After splitting their first two conference games on March 27, the Blue Hawks swept the Bruins on the second day on March 28.  DiSU lifted their overall record to 17-9 and 3-1 NSAA conference record.  BU, who also fell to NCAA Division III Nebraska Wesleyan on March 26, is 12-14 overall record and 1-3 record in the NSAA contests. 

Looking Ahead
(RV) Bellevue (Neb.) continues their action with three non-conference games this week, starting on Tuesday at Nebraska Wesleyan.  The Bruins travels to Doane (Neb.) on Wednesday for a doubleheader.

The North Star Athletic Association four-game series continue Saturday and Sunday.  This weekend's slate includes (RV) Jamestown (N.D.) at Dakota State (S.D.), Bellevue at Valley City State (N.D.), and Mayville State (N.D.) at Dickinson State (N.D.).
