BISMARCK, N.D. – Valley City State University track and field recorded three first place finishes, seven top three finishes, 23 top eight finishes, and one national qualifier at the Marauders Outdoor Open on Saturday, March 22.
 
The Viking women had one first place finish, two top three finishes and 13 top eight finishes.
 
VCSU went first, sixth, and seventh in the javelin with Kendra Odegard (42.10m), Sadie Hansen (36.40m), and Alana Anderson (34.60m). Odegard qualifies with the "B" standard for the 2025 NAIA National Outdoor Championships. 
 
Vikings Kendra Odegard (11.60m), Emma Bastian (11.43), and Sadie Hansen (11.34) took fifth, sixth, and seventh, in the shot put.
 
In the hammer throw, Bastian finished sixth with a 39.92-meter attempt. Jade Azure took seventh with a 38.83-meter throw.
 
In the high jump, Backus took third with a successful 1.60-meter high jump. Delaney Cotton took sixth with a 1.40-meter jump.
 
Karly Just finished in fourth with a 5:06.66 in the 1500-meter. Emma Muggli took seventh in the 400-meter hurdles running a 1:10.97. Tennasyn Henry took eight in the 400-meter running a 1:19.98.
 
The Viking men had two first place, four top three and 10 top eight finishes at the Marauder Outdoor Opener.
 
Cameron Champagnie took first in the triple jump with a 13.10-meter jump. Jordan Mount also took first in the 400-meter running a 49.46.
 
Aaron Cutshall took second in the long jump on a 6.72-meter attempt. Zeke Barnick placed fifth with a 6.27-meter jump.
 
Gage Gunther finished third in the 800-meter running a 2:03.05.
 
In the 100-meter, Tommy Baldwin and Zeke Barnick went fourth and fifth respectively running a 11.37 and 11.84 each.
 
In the high jump, Barnick took fifth with a 1.87-meter clearance.
 
Jagger Dickman claimed eighth place in the hammer throw with a 43.91-meter throw.
 
Lastly, the Viking 4x800 meter relay team consisting of Gage Gunther, Zach Baumgartner, Isaac Eichhorst and Tate Minnihan took third place running a 9:04.36.
