DICKINSON, N.D. – Valley City State's
Sydney Carlson carded her second-best 36-hole score as a Viking to finish in 3
rd place at the DSU Spring Invite. The two-day tournament was played Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson.
Carlson fired a 162 (81-81) and finished just three strokes back of Dickinson State's individual medalist Elly LeBlanc. On the men's side,
Grant Inniger improved his second day score by eight strokes to card a 168 (88-80) and finish in a tie for 24
th.
The Viking women finished in fifth place out of six teams with a 769 team score (389-380).
Winter Oldrock tied for 21
st place with a 198 (100-98) and
Kathleen Vetter finished tied for 24
th after carding a 200 (101-99).
Sydney Staus added a 209 (107-102) and a 28
th place finish.
Sarah Monilaws rounded out the Viking women with a 300 (143-157) at the tournament.
Montana Tech earned the team title by one stroke over the University of Jamestown after carding a 680 (342-338) team score.
VCSU's men placed seventh out of seven teams with a 694 (357-337). Inniger led the way, followed by
Zach St. Aubin who finished in 32
nd place after carding a 174 (87-87).
Owen Haase finished in 36
th place with a 178 (95-83) and
Brett Limke carded a 180 (93-87) to place 37
th.
Wyatt Meisch totaled a two-day 186 (89-97) to place 40
th. VCSU's
Parker Heydt competed as an individual and finished with a 198 (101-97) to finish in 41
st place.
University of Jamestown's Orange team took the title with a 614 (320-294) tournament score. UJ's Max Noffsinger improved his score by 10 strokes to card a final-round 69 and win individual medalist honors. Noffsinger finished with a 148 (79-69) to earn the title by three strokes.
