Three Vikings place in Top 10 at UJ Invite

JAMESTOWN – Valley City State golfers Kathleen Vetter, Sydney Carlson and Grant Inniger each finished in the Top 10 at the University of Jamestown Invite, which concluded Tuesday afternoon.

The field of golfers played 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday to make up the 54-hole tournament at the par-72 Jamestown Country Club.
 
Vetter finished in fifth place after carding a 257 (82-80-95) at the tournament. Vetter's second-round 80 is her career-low as a Viking. Carlson placed seventh with a 54-hole score of 260 (84-90-86). Zach St. Aubin watches his approach shot.
 
On the men's side, Inniger sat in third place individually after an opening-round 74. He finished in 10th place with a 230 (74-80-76) tournament score and posted three birdies in each of his rounds.
 
VCSU's women finished in third place as a team, behind two teams from the University of Jamestown. VCSU posted a 1094 (355-368-371), just behind UJ Black who carded a 1077 (362-356-359).
 
UJ Orange posted a 986 (323-329-334) to win the women's team title. Jamestown's Isabella Crafford took individual medalist honors by just two strokes after finishing with a 238 (76-81-81).
 
Winter Oldrock carded a 286 (93-101-92) to finish in 13th place, while Sydney Staus finished with a 292 (96-98-98) to place 15th and Paige Hulm carded a 310 (102-100-108) to place 16th.
 
VCSU's men finished in seventh place out of eight teams with a 1008 (325-338-345). Concordia-Moorhead took the team title after firing an 892 (300-294-298), edging the UJ-Orange team by three strokes.
 
VCSU freshman Zach St. Aubin had a strong performance, opening his first nine holes at even-par. He carded four birdies in the tournament and fired a 247 (82-84-81) for a 29th place finish.
 
Wyatt Meisch finished in 35th place after playing consistently in three straight rounds with 86-87-84 to total 257 for the tournament. Parker Heydt carded a 295 (94-104-97) to finish in 47th place and Henrik Jacobsen finished with a 316 (100-112-104) to place 48th.
 
Owen Haase's 83-87 contributed towards VCSU's team score on Monday, but Haase withdrew from the tournament for the final round and did not place.

Concordia-Moorhead's Jack Hanson won medalist honors on the men's side after carding a 4-over-par 220 (76-71-73).
