The Valley City State golf teams opened the fall season Tuesday, playing a dual with Dickinson State at Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora, N.D.

Sophomore
Sydney Carlson tied for second place after firing an 83 at the par-72 course. Her Tuesday score is just one stroke off her career-best as a Viking. VCSU's women finished with a 384 team score, falling to Dickinson State's 349.

Kathleen Vetter carded a 94 and finished in fifth place, and
Winter Oldrock finished with a 100 to place eighth. Freshman
Paige Hulm carded a 107 in her Viking debut and
Sydney Staus finished with a 110. Playing as an individual,
Amber Knutson finished with a 124.Â

Dickinson State's Elly Kapua LeBlanc earned individual medalist honors after firing a 78 on the day.

On the men's side, Dickinson State's team won the dual with a 300, besting VCSU's 384 score as a team. Senior
Grant Inniger fired an 85 on Tuesday and tied for eighth place to lead the Vikings.
Wyatt Meisch and
Zach St. Aubin each finished with a 95 to tie for 10th place while
Henrik Jacobsen and
Parker Heydt each finished with a 109 to round out VCSU's team effort. Individually,
Alex Aker carded a 104.

Dickinson State's Bryce Reed and Blake Barner each fired a 2-over-par 74 to tie for first place in the tournament.
