The Valley City State men's basketball team won its fourth straight game Tuesday night, opening a five-game home stand with a 94-49 victory over Trinity Bible College.
The Vikings opened up a 53-30 halftime lead over the Lions and led by as many as 47 points en route to the non-conference victory.
Valley City State improves to 8-1 overall. Trinity Bible College drops to 3-7.
The Vikings blistered the nets from long distance in the first half Tuesday, going 8-for-14 from beyond the arc. Rashad Satahoo led the way with 14 first-half points, including a 4-for-5 performance on 3's.
Satahoo led the Vikings with 22 points on the night, one of three Vikings in double figures. Jayden Ferguson finished with 16 points and Darryl Howell added 13.
Riley West chipped in nine points, and Nygel Drury, Nate Vieira and LJ Booth all had eight points.
The Vikings shot 45 percent from the field (35-78), 50 percent on 3's (11-22) and 81 percent on free throws (13-16). Trinity Bible College finished at 32 percent shooting overall (17-54), 16 percent on 3's (3-19) and 63 percent on free throws (12-19). Friscoe Erdahl led the Lions with 17 points.
VCSU's defense forced 29 Lion turnovers. The Vikings committed just 10 turnovers and had 16 assists.
Valley City State is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll released on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings are the first team in the receiving votes category, or No. 26 in the poll. Three of VCSU's next four games are against teams rated in the Top 25. The Vikings host No. 15 Waldorf College on Dec. 4, host No. 8 Dakota Wesleyan on Dec. 9, and then host No. 16 Bellevue University on Dec. 12.
