Vikings hit the road for four matches in seven days

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The first Frontier Conference road trip happens this weekend for Valley City State. The Vikings head to Havre, Montana on Friday to play Montana State-Northern, then to Great Falls, Montana to face #5 Providence. The Vikings will stay in Montana and take on Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana on Wednesday then wrap up the road trip with Carroll College in Helena, Montana on Thursday.

The Vikings have faced Friday's opponent, Montana State-Northern eleven times. The Skylights have won nine of the previous eleven matches, including last year's meeting at the Frontier/NSAA Crossover where MSU-N won in straight sets. In 2023, the Vikings swept the Skylights at Graichen Gym in the VCSU Invite. Valley City State is 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the Frontier Conference, heading into the weekend. The Skylights are 3-6 on the season and 1-2 in the Frontier Conference.

On Saturday, Valley City State will take on fifth ranked Providence. The Argos reached the NAIA National Tournament Final Site in 2024 where they lost in a one-set tiebreaker with Bellevue in pool play. Bellevue would eventually advance to the National Championship match where there lost to Indiana Wesleyan. Valley City State and Providence have met twice before with each team winning a match. Argos are 10-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Frontier Conference. They have won nine matches in a row.
