Viking baseball to host Mayville on April 18-19

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Valley City State University baseball will host Mayville State University on April 18 and 19 in a four-game series featuring two doubleheaders.
 
The Vikings are set to take on the Comets on Friday at 1:00/3:30 at Charlie Brown Memorial Baseball Field. VCSU Baseball's Senior Night will be on Saturday with acknowledgments in between games at 12:00/2:30 p.m.
 
All games will be streamed on the Viking Athletics YouTube channel. Live stats will be available for each game.

Last Saturday the Vikings split games 1-1 against the (RV) University of Jamestown. Their 6-0 win was led by a seven inning complete game by NSAA Pitcher-of-the-Week Takao Cookson. Cookson shutout the Jimmies allowing only three hits in the contest while striking out nine.

Viking baseball is currently 16-25 overall and 1-11 in North Star Athletic Association conference games. The Comets are currently 11-23 overall and 3-9 in NSAA conference games
 
The Vikings are batting an average of .268 with an on base percentage of .378. The Comets are batting .279 with and on base percentage of .353.
 
Viking pitchers lead the NSAA in K/9 with 9.94. MSU averages 6.20 K/9. Viking pitchers are throwing 7.61 ERA where Mayville has a 9.67 ERA.
