VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Valley City State has one more game to go in the fall portion of their schedule. Wednesday, October 8
th, the Vikings will host Bismarck State College at Charlie Brown Memorial Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The Mystics defeated Valley City State 13-6 when the two teams met in Bismarck on September 24
th. One bad inning hurt the Vikings as BSC sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the third inning.
Cam Pero was 2 for 4 in the game with a scored and an RBI. Three Viking pitchers combined to strike out eleven Bismarck State batters that day.
Defensively, the Viking infield has committed just two errors on the season.
As a team, the Vikings are hitting an even .300 with nine extra-base hits.
Connor Hoyt is leading the team with .667 average. He has six hits in 15 at bats this fall.
Cody Wielgosh is hitting .364,
Porter Jorgenson is hitting .375 and
Cam Pero is at .400. Hoyt has a team leading five runs scored. Hoyt, Wielgosh, and
Alexis Velasco each have drove in three runs.
Takao Cookson leads the pitching staff with 7 1/3 innings of work and ten strikeouts.
Grady Shipman allowed just one earned run in five innings is his only start of the fall.
Eli Chabot has been solid out of the bullpen with 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and five strikeouts. He has the only save for the Vikings.
Anthony Carrasquillo has two innings of scoreless relief.
The Vikings are 2-2 on the season while the Mystics come in 3-2. Wednesday's first pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
