VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State baseball team will be in action Wednesday, October 1
st against Mayville State. First pitch for the one nine-inning game is set for 2:00 p.m. at Charlie Brown Memorial Field.
The Vikings come in 1-2 on the season. They are coming off a split with Dickinson State on Monday. Behind
Connor Hoyt's 2 for 3 performance and solid pitching from
Takao Cookson and
Eli Chabot, the Vikings took the first game 6-3. Hoyt had a single, double, scored two runs, and drove in two.
Nicholas Senn and
Cam Pero were each 2 for 3 in the game. Cookson allowed four hits and three earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out six. Chabot picked up the save by throwing 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Dickinson State scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie on the wat to the 7-4 win in game two.
Mayville State comes in 2-2 on the season after splitting a doubleheader with Dickinson State last week.
