MARION, IND. – VCSU sophomore
Jaiden Peraza earned his second All-American honor of the year on Thursday, taking fourth place in high jump at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
Peraza cleared a career-best 2.08 meters (6 feet, 10 inches) at the national meet Thursday evening to take fourth place in a highly competitive event.
A total of 37 athletes competed Thursday, with 18 of them clearing 2.02 meters and 12 clearing 2.05 meters or better.
Peraza made 1.97, 2.02 and 2.05 on his first jump at each height. After missing his first two attempts at 2.08, Peraza cleared the bar cleanly on his final attempt for a new personal best that also earned him All-American.
A pair of jumpers made 2.20 meters (7 feet, 2.5 inches), including Shandon Reitzell of Midland who took home the national title after tiebreaker criteria.

For Peraza, it capped off a successful season with his second All-American award. Peraza also earned All-American at the NAIA Indoor Championships, clearing 2.05 meters to place fourth in high jump at that national meet.
Valley City State finished the outdoor national meet with two All-Americans after Kendra Odegard placed sixth in the women's javelin on Wednesday.
