The Valley City State track and field team recorded ten Top 10 finishes on Friday at the large NDSU Dakota Alumni Classic.
 
The meet featured athletes from a variety of NCAA and NAIA regional schools.

Freshman Karina Olson qualified for the 60-meter hurdle finals and placed 6^th with a PR time of 9.29 seconds. It was one of two Top 10 finishes for Olson, who also took 9^th in long jump (5.08 meters).
 
Kendra Odegard placed 9^th in shot put with a big PR throw of 12.16 meters, and Emma Muggli was 9^th in triple jump with her mark of 9.70 meters.
 
Jaiden Peraza had a pair of Top 10 finishes to lead the Viking men, taking 3^rd in triple jump (13.46 meters) and 4^th in the high jump (1.96 meters).
 
The Viking men had three Top 10s in the triple jump as Aaron Cutshall placed 6^th (12.88 meters) and Jalen Strickland was 8^th (12.49 meters).
 
Clay Kummer qualified for the 60-meter hurdle finals and placed 8^th (9.00) and Cody Frounfelter was 9^th in the weight throw with a PR mark of 12.68 meters.
 
Up next: Valley City State has some time off for the semester break and then resumes the indoor season on Jan. 20 at Concordia College-Moorhead.
