VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State University women's golf team will open its 2026-27 season Monday and Tuesday at the Blue Hawk Fall Invitational in Dickinson, North Dakota.
The opening round will be played Monday, Sept. 14, at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson. The tournament concludes Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Pheasant Country Golf Course in South Heart.

A YOUNG VIKING ROSTER
VCSU enters the season with a four-player roster featuring returning sophomore Sadie Neustel and newcomers Ally Larson, Isabella Schlick and Olivia Kalbus.
Neustel, a Gwinner, North Dakota, native, is the Vikings' lone returning golfer. Larson joins the program from Minot North High School in Minot, North Dakota, while Schlick comes to VCSU from Mahnomen High School in Mahnomen, Minnesota.
KALBUS BECOMES A DUAL-SPORT ATHLETE
Kalbus joins the women's golf program for her first season as a member of the team while continuing her career with VCSU softball. The Fargo, North Dakota, native appeared in 36 games and made 12 starts for the Vikings during the 2026 softball season.
NEUSTEL RETURNS
Neustel returns after a strong freshman campaign that included several notable finishes. She placed second at the Dickinson State Spring Invitational after carding rounds of 80 and 77 for a 157 total.
Neustel also placed ninth at the Comet Invitational with a two-round score of 174 and finished 13th at the Dakota Wesleyan Invitational after shooting rounds of 93, 82 and 86. She concluded her freshman season by placing 25th at the Frontier Conference Championships in Phoenix, Arizona, with rounds of 89, 96 and 92.
FRONTIER CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
VCSU was selected to finish tied for seventh in the 2026-27 Frontier Conference Women's Golf Coaches' Preseason Poll. The Vikings and the University of Providence each received 11 points.
Five-time defending conference champion Rocky Mountain College was selected as the preseason favorite with 49 points and six first-place votes. Bellevue received the remaining first-place vote and was picked second with 42 points.
LOOKING AHEAD
Following the Blue Hawk Fall Invitational, the Vikings will return to competition on September 17th at the Spartan Invitational as they continue their fall tournament schedule.
