SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dickinson. State scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and held on to down Valley City State 6-5 in college baseball Sunday at the Frontier Conference Round Robin in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Valley City State is 14-10 overall and 1-2 in the Frontier Conference. Dickinson State is 14-13 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Dickinson State took the early lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Three straight RBI singles by Jayden Roberts, Jace Buchanan, and Ty Farwell gave the Blue Hawks a 3-0 lead.
The Vikings would take the lead with five runs in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded and one out,
Evan Gonzalez scored on a passed ball.

Cody Wielgosh singled in
Diesel Goya to tie the game at 3-3. The Vikings took the lead on Nick Senn's two-run double, scoring
Alexis Velasco and Wielgosh to make it 5-3 Valley City State.
In the bottom of the fifth, Dickinson State scored three times. Once scored on a wild pitch and two scored on an error, giving the Blue Hawks a 6-5 lead.
The Vikings did get the tying run to second in the sixth but could not get him home. They were retired 1-2-3 in the seventh.
Brady Papineau and
Diesel Goya were each 2 for 3 with a run scored. Alexs Velasco was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Cody Wiegosh, Nick Senn,
Kaden Rozdeba, and
Evan Gonzalez were all 1 for 3. Wielgosh scored a run and drove in one. Senn had two RBI, and Gonzalez had run scored.
Jarrett Faue took the loss despite giving up one unearned run and no hits in wo innings of relief work. He walked one and struck out two.
Grady Shipman went the first four innings and allowed six hits, five earned runs with three walks and three strikeouts.
