SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Bellevue scored two runs in the top of the third and never looked back on the way to a 12-3 win over Valley City State in the final game of the Frontier Conference Round Robin in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Vikings are now 14-11 on the season and 1-3 in the Frontier Conference. The Fourth ranked Bruins are 22-3 on the year and 4-0 in the Frontier Conference.
In the top of the third, the Bruins scored two runs to take the early lead. One run scored on a safety squeeze, and one came in on an error.
Bellevue would add two more runs in the top of the fourth. An RBI single by Mason Spellecy made it 3-0. Another run came in on an error to make it 4-0.
The Vikings made things interesting in the bottom of the fourth when they scored three runs.
Kaden Rozdeba scored on an error.
Diesel Goya was hit-by-a-pitch with the bases loaded to make it 4-2.
Cody Wielgosh walked with the bases loaded to make it 4-3. But
Alexis Velasco hit a sharp comebacker to the pitcher who threw him ouot to end the threat.
It was all Bellevue from there. The Bruins scored four runs in the fifth. Xavier Lerma hit a solo home run to start the scoring. Louis-Felix Anderson doubled in a run. Jaylin Riffin had an RBI double and Nick Gravel singled in a run to make it 8-3.
They would add three more in the sixth on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch and two on an error.
The Bruins final tally came on a bases-loaded walk to Nolan Walker in the seventh to make the final 12-3.
Cody Wielgosh was 1 for 1 with three walks and an RBI.
Anthony Madsen was 1 for 2 with a run scored.
Brady Papineau was 1 for 3 with an RBI and
Hunter Logan was 1 for 4.
