VALLEY CITY, N.D. – For the last time in the regular season this year, Valley City State will head to Montana for the weekend. The Viking women look to avenge two close loses when they face University of Providence on Friday and Montana State-Northern on Saturday.
The Vikings are 7-13 overall and 4-12 in the Frontier Conference. The Argos are 13-9 overall and 9-7 in the conference. The Skylights are 15-6 overall and 11-5 in the conference.
The last time the Argos and Vikings met, it came down to the closing seconds. With 2:16 remaining, Providence's Brooke Dial would make a two, giving them a 60-57 lead. A couple of possessions later, the Vikings trailed 65-62 with 21 seconds on the clock. After a timeout,
Ellie Braaten drove down, kicked out a pass to
Tiyana Schwinghammer, where she would hit the game-tying three with eight seconds remaining. With no timeouts remaining, the Agros quickly moved down the court, hitting the game-winning basket in the last seconds of the game.
Abby Aslesen totaled 20 points along with five rebounds.
Tiyana Schwinghammer followed with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
JayCee Richter finished the game with 16 points and five rebounds.
Against MSUN, the Skylights ended the game on a 7-0 run to pull out the 76-70 win.
Ellie Braaten scored a career high 25 points to lead the Vikings.
JayCee Richter had twelve points, eight rebounds, and four assists for VCSU.
Tipoff for both games will be 5pm MT/6pm CT.
