VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State University women's basketball team makes its home debut Tuesday, Nov. 3, hosting the University of Minnesota Morris at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse.
Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. Central at the Bubble, opening a basketball doubleheader with the Viking men scheduled to follow at 7 p.m.
The Vikings enter Tuesday seeking their first victory after opening the season with two games at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. VCSU showed encouraging signs in Saturday's 73-65 loss to No. 2 Dakota Wesleyan, leading at halftime and remaining within four points with just over two minutes to play.
Ellie Braaten led the Vikings with 29 points, knocking down eight 3-pointers while adding five assists and three steals. Liz Lukken contributed 13 points, while Tiyana Schwinghammer finished with nine points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Cassidy Shute added eight points as VCSU connected on 11 shots from beyond the arc.
Tuesday gives the Vikings an opportunity to build on that performance in front of their home crowd. VCSU holds a 24-2 advantage in the recorded series against Minnesota Morris, including a 14-1 mark at home. The Vikings have won nine of the last 10 meetings and enter Tuesday seeking their third straight victory over the Cougars. In last season's matchup, VCSU pulled away with a 27-point second quarter en route to a 77-42 victory at the Bubble on Nov. 4, 2025.
Fans attending Tuesday's games should note that the east-side doors to the Bubble are now open and available for use.
Following Tuesday's matchup, the Viking women remain home to host Trinity Bible College on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 5:30 p.m. Central.
