VALLEY CITY, N.D. – After some time off for the holiday break, the Valley City State University Viking Women's basketball team returns to the court with conference games against (RV) Montana State-Northern on Friday, January 2
nd and the (RV) University of Providence on Saturday, January 3
rd. Games both nights tipoff at 5:00 p.m. at the Bubble.
The Viking's are 5-6 overall coming into the weekend and 2-5 in the Frontier Conference. Montana State-Northern is 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the Frontier Conference. The University of Providence is 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
Ellie Braaten leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game, and assists (38). She is second in steals (23) behind
Tiyana Schwinghammer (24), and she is third in rebounds (54).
JayCee Richter is second in scoring, averaging 9.4 points per game. Schwinghammer averages 8.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
Abby Aslesen leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.8 per contest and averages 7.8 points per game.
Valley City State and Montana State-Northern have split the six games they have played all-time. The Vikings have won the last two, including a 74-53 win last season. VCSU has won the only meeting in Valley City, a 75-72 win in 2002.
This will be the second meeting all-time between the Vikings and Argos. Providence won the only other meeting, a 64-48-win, last season in Havre, Montana.
Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights
