VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State University begins Frontier Conference play tonight in Mayville against the Comets. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
The Viking women are 3-1 on the season and are coming off an 81-68 loss to Bemidji State on Friday, November 14
th.
The Vikings are led by
Tiyana Schwinghammer. The junior from Brooten, Minn. Is averaging twelve points per game through the first four.
Olivia Backus and
Ellie Braaten are averaging just over ten points per game while
Liz Lukken is averaging just under ten a game.
Braaten is coming off a 20-point, six rebounds performance in the loss to Bemidji State.
Abby Aslesen had twelve points and six rebounds against the Beavers.
Last season, Valley City won the last two of the three meetings. Both wins came in Mayville. The first of those two wins was an 84-66 win while the second was a 76-67 win. In that second win,
JayCee Richter scored 29 points for the Vikings.
Olivia Backus had 16 points
Abby Aslesen scored ten and added eleven rebounds. The 84-66 win came on January 24
th and ended a 13-game losing streak to the Comets for Valley City State. Aslesen scored a career high 26 points in that win and added six rebounds.
Ellie Braaten nearly had a triple-double ten points, ten assists, and nine rebounds.
Mayville State comes into the contest 1-3 on the season. They are coming off a 72-49 loss to Minot State on Friday night.
