Valley City State looks to stay perfect, host Bemidji State Friday

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State Vikings' women's basketball team is back home Friday night to take on Bemidji State. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Bubble.

The Vikings are 3-0 on the season. This will be the first game of the season for Bemidji state.

The Vikings are led offensively by Tiyana Schwinghammer who is averaging 14 points per game. Olivia Backus and Liz Lukken are both averaging just over 13 points per game.

Sophie Bachmeier leads the team averaging three assists per game. Schwinghammer is averaging 2.7 steals per game.

Valley City State is averaging 93.7 points per game as a team. They are shooting 47.8 percent from the field and 76.9 percent from the free throw line.

The last time these two teams played in a regular season game was back in January of 2015 and the Beavers won that game 73-54.

The Vikings will be looking to start the season 4-0 for the first time since the 2005-2006 season when they got off to a 5-0 start.
