Men's basketball comes up short against Dickinson State 93-74

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Valley City State University men's basketball come up short against Dickinson State University 93-74 on Friday, Jan. 17. DSU improves their record to 11-7 overall and 6-0 in the conference. VCSU drops to 10-8 and 1-5 in the conference.
 
Right out the gate Dickinson got off to a fast start growing their lead to 11-2 in the first three minutes of the contest. Valley City State narrowed the gap to 23-19 with 11:42 remaining in the first half, thanks to contributions from Caden Grinde, Shaheed Muhammad and Ousseynou Ngom.
 
Close the end of the first half DSU had opened the lead back to 12 at 44-32 with three minutes remaining. The Vikings narrowed DSU's lead to seven in the last three minutes closing the half with the score of 46-39.
 
At halftime the Vikings shot 14-21 from the field, 4-6 from the three-point line, and 7-11 from the free throw line. DSU shot 19-32 from the field and 8-15 from the three-point line.
 
The second half was much of the same where DSU steadily held their lead and grow it into the double digits. The game finished at 93-74.
 
In the end the Vikings shot 28-58 from the field, 7-18 from the three-point line and 11-17 from the free throw line. They were led by Lamar Grayson with 20 points, two rebounds and two steals. He was followed by Jayden Patcha with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists.
 
DSU shot 36-67 from the field, 17-28 from the three-point line and 4-5 from the free throw line. They were led by Trey Stevens with 20 points, four rebounds and four assists. Kose Egbule tallied 16 points and six assists for the Blue Hawks.
