VALLEY CITY – Valley City State University Football has released its 2025 football schedule.
Beginning in the fall 2025, VCSU will be joining the Frontier Conference comprised of 14 football playing schools that will be divided into East and West Divisions each established with seven teams.
The Frontier Conference - East Division will be as follows in alphabetical order by institution:
- Dakota State University (Madison, S.D.)
- Dickinson State University (Dickinson, N.D.)
- Mayville State University (Mayville, N.D.)
- Montana State University – Northern (Havre, Mont.)
- Montana Technological University (Butte, Mont.)
- Rocky Mountain College (Billings, Mont.)
- Valley City State University (Valley City, N.D.)
The Frontier Conference - West Division will be as follows in alphabetical order by institution:
- Arizona Christian University (Glendale, Ariz.)
- Carroll College (Helena, Mont.)
- College of Idaho (Caldwell, Idaho)
- Eastern Oregon University (La Grande, Ore.)
- Simpson University (Redding, Calif.)
- Southern Oregon University (Ashland, Ore.)
- University of Montana Western (Dillon, Mont.)
The assignment of divisions is consistent with the NAIA's approach to allocating automatic berths to its Football Championship Series for postseason qualification. Both the East and West divisions of the Frontier Conference will be granted one automatic qualifying berth beginning in Fall 2025 along with the opportunity to claim one or more at-large berths. The best six-game record within each division will claim the corresponding automatic qualifying berth.
Viking Football will begin their season on the road at Dickinson State on Aug. 30 in a game not counted towards their six game East Division record. After their matchup with Dickinson, Viking football will have their home opener against Augsburg University on Sept. 6. Following game two the Vikings will be flying out to play Eastern Oregon, a member of the Frontier West Division, on Sept. 20. They return to host their final non-conference matchup of the year against Simpson University on Sept. 27 from Redding, Calif., another Frontier West Division team.
On Oct. 4 the Vikings host Rocky Mountain College in their first of six East Division games. They remain at home for game two in East Division play to take on Mayville State University on Oct. 11. Viking Football plays at Dakota State on Oct. 18 for the third East Division game of the season. On Oct. 25 the Vikings play their final home game of the season against Dickinson State University. The Vikings close their season on the road playing MSU-Northern on Nov. 8 and Montana Tech Nov. 15, both Frontier East Division games.
