Judson Seliskar hit a pair of home runs Monday as the Valley City State baseball team split a doubleheader at Viterbo University.

Seliskar homered twice and drove in four runs during the first game, helping the Vikings to a 6-4 victory. In game two, Viterbo University salvaged the split with a 7-2 win.

Valley City State finishes the four-game series with a 1-3 record. The Vikings are now 6-22 overall and 2-10 in the North Star Athletic Association. Viterbo is now 8-19 overall and 6-6 in the conference.

Up next: Valley City State is scheduled to play four games against Presentation College on April 7-8. The games will likely be played at a neutral site, potentially at Waldorf University's field in Forest City, Iowa.

VCSU 6, Viterbo University 4
Judson Seliskar hit two home runs, scored three times and drove in four runs as he powered VCSU to a 6-4 victory in game one. The Vikings totaled 12 hits in the win and recevied a pair of solid pitching performances by
Brooks Brown and
Riley Resnick.

Brown started on the mound and battled through six innings, scattering five hits and three runs. Resnick pitched the final three innings to pick up the win, allowing just one run and one hit while striking out three.

Seliskar started the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first inning – a sign of things to come for the lefty. He hit a 2-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Vikings a 4-3 lead, and then added a solo shot in the ninth inning to put the Vikings up 6-4.

Dustin Mertz added an RBI single in the first inning, and
Jaden Babiuk broke a 4-4 tie with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning – scoring
Cam Pero for the go-ahead run.

Seliskar finished the game batting 3-for-5 with three runs scored, the two home runs and four RBI. Babiuk was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Mertz, Pero and
Drew Nixon all had two hits each, and
Adam Thompson singled and scored.

Viterbo 7, VCSU 2
Viterbo scored the first seven runs of game two, including three in the bottom of the first inning and three more in the fifth inning.
Drew Nixon hit a 2-run home run – his 6
th of the season – in the sixth inning for VCSU.

VCSU managed just four hits in the game.
Zach Veneman went 2-for-3.
Kaden Rozdeba had one hit and Nixon was 1-for-2 with the home run.

Adam Thompson started on the mound and took the loss for VCSU. Thompson pitched three innings, allowing three hits and three runs – only one of which was earned.
Jace Hanson and
Carter Dodd both pitched in relief.
