Viking Women score 95 in conference win over Waldorf

The VCSU Women's Basketball defeated conference opponent Waldorf College by 53 with a 95-42 win Friday night in Valley City. This is the Vikings second straight victory while scoring over 90 points as a team.

The Vikings forced 27 Waldorf College turnovers, and kept their turnovers to only 9. VCSU also had four players that shot in the double digits.

Nisja Bass led the team with 17 points, Georgia Williams followed with 12, and both Lexi Lennon and Nya Chakin added 10 points each. Lennon also led the team in rebounds with a total of 8.

The Warriors were led by Taylor Fricke who finished with eight points and seven rebounds. Mackenzie Gott, Miriah Carruth, and Jamerka Martin followed scoring six points each.

VCSU showed a great shooting performance by making 52 percent (39 of 75) of their field goal shots. They also shot 61 percent (11 for 18) behind the free throw line. The Vikings also had 16 steals form the Warriors.

Waldorf made a total of 27 percent (13 of 47) of their field goals. They were strong from behind the free throw line making 68 percent (13 of 19) of their shots.

VCSU is still undefeated in the conference and 3-0 and is 6-5 overall. Waldorf College is now 0-3 in the NSAA (1-7 overall).

The Vikings are back in action at home Saturday afternoon against Johnson & Wales University, which will be followed by the VCSU Men's Basketball game. Waldorf faces another conference opponent Saturday afternoon heading to Mayville State University.
