Coach Keeler brings extensive collegiate coaching and athletic administration experience to the program. A native of Lower Brule, South Dakota, Keeler is passionate about helping student-athletes succeed both in competition and in life. He believes cross country is a true team sport in which every runner has value and contributes to the program’s success.
Keeler most recently served as an assistant cross country and track and field coach at William Woods University during the 2024–25 season. Before joining William Woods, he was the head cross country and track and field coach at Haskell Indian Nations University from 2022–24.
Under Keeler’s leadership, Haskell’s women’s cross country team captured the 2022 Continental Athletic Conference championship, followed by the men’s conference title in 2023. His athletes also earned men’s and women’s individual conference championships in cross country.
The Haskell track and field program experienced similar success, producing an outdoor national champion in the shot put, four individual conference champions and one conference championship relay. Keeler’s programs also excelled academically, earning numerous scholar-athlete honors along with Women’s Cross Country and Women’s Track and Field Scholar-Team awards.
Prior to Haskell, Keeler served as the head cross country and track and field coach at Kansas Christian College from 2019–22. He guided the men’s cross country team to a third-place finish at the 2019 NCCAA National Championships and a fifth-place finish in 2021. His teams made several additional appearances at the NCCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, while producing an All-American and multiple scholar-athletes.
Keeler previously worked at Haskell Indian Nations University as the assistant athletic director and director of golf operations from 2017–18.
Keeler earned a Master of Science in Administration with an emphasis in leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Community Development from Central Michigan University. He also holds an associate degree in general studies from Central Texas College.
