Tim Wagner is in his third season as the lead assistant coach for the Valley City State University men's basketball program.
Valley City State finished the 2023-24 season with an 11-16 mark overall and a 3-9 conference record. Cleveland Bedgood was named 2nd Team All-Conference for the 2023-24 season.
The Vikings finished the 2022-23 season with a 16-14 overall record and an 8-6 mark in the NSAA. VCSU finished fourth in the NSAA standings and made it to the semifinals of the NSAA Tournament. Daevonte Munson was named 1st Team All-Conference and Cayden Rickard earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.
In his first year on the bench, Valley City State posted an 18-11 record during the 2021-22 season, going 8-6 in conference play. The Vikings finished third in the NSAA standings and advancted to the semifinals of the NSAA Tournament. Kevin Schramm was named 1st Team All-Conference, and Chris Thompson earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Wagner worked the previous three seasons at Bemidji State, where he assisted in areas such as recruiting, scouting, practice plans and workouts, academic progress and youth camps. He also has experience as a camp coordinator and skills coach at the high school level.
A native of Galesville, Wis., Wagner completed his collegiate playing career at Harding University – an NCAA Division II school in Arkansas. He averaged 15.6 points per game during his two seasons at Harding and earned All-Great American Conference and GAC All-Academic honors.
Wagner recently earned his master's degree in sports management from Winona State University and earned a bachelor's degree from Harding in 2018.
