Valley City State University

Trent Kosel is in his 4th season as an assistant coach for the Vikings, working primarily with the quarterbacks. Kosel is also a full-time professor on campus in the mathematics department. 

During Kosel's first season on the staff in 2021, quarterback Jalen Pfeifer set numerous career records including passing yards (9,519) and 99 career touchdowns responsible for (80 pass, 19 rush). Pfeifer finished the season throwing for 2285 yards and 23 touchdowns with a 58 percent completion percentage. 

Kosel played for the Vikings from 2007-2010 and was the team's starting quarterback in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
