Valley City State University

Trent Finney enters his first season on the Valley City State University football coaching staff in 2026 as a graduate assistant.

Finney joins the coaching staff after a four-year playing career at tight end for the Vikings from 2022–25. He appeared in 36 games and made 20 starts, recording 37 receptions for 362 yards and seven touchdowns. Finney earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in both 2023 and 2024 and served as a team captain during the 2025 season.

A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Finney graduated from Valley City State University with his undergraduate degree in 2026. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree at VCSU while beginning his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant.
