Tony Piccalo is in his first season as a full-time assistant football coach at Valley City State University.

Piccalo is a 2002 graduate of Valley City State University and worked the last nine years as head coach of Cocoa Beach High School in Florida. During his undergraduate time at VCSU, Piccalo was a student assistant coach for the Viking football team from 1998-2001.

He was officially hired as a full-time VCSU assistant on Aug. 1, 2014. Piccalo's main focus on the field will be working with the running backs and tight ends.

Piccalo leaves Cocoa Beach High School with the most wins (46) in school history. His 2012 squad went 9-2, setting a school record for most wins in a season. The Minutemen play in Florida's very strong Class 4A.

After graduating from VCSU with a degree in health and physical education, Piccalo worked three years as an assistant coach at Cocoa Beach before taking over the head job in 2005. Five of his former players have gone on to play at VCSU, and two more are committed to play with the Vikings this fall.

Prior to attending VCSU, Piccalo was an assistant coach from 1992-97 at Cocoa High School, which is also in Florida.

Piccalo's wife, Kasey (Kottsick), is a VCSU graduate and a native of Mandan, N.D. They have an 8-year-old son together, Tony Jr., and Piccalo has a 20-year-old son, Cameron.
