Valley City State University

The 2019 season is Chad Smith's third season as an offensive assistant coach at Valley City State University.

Smith's primarily on-field responsibility is coaching the receivers, and he also oversees the strength and conditioning for the Viking Football program. In 2018, junior receiver Jake Peterson was named 2nd Team All-Conference after racking up 53 catches for 815 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Before joining the VCSU staff in the summer of 2017, Smith most recently worked as defensive line coach and director of football operations for the Bismarck Bucks professional indoor team in Bismarck, N.D. Prior to that he spent time in the collegiate game on the coaching staffs at University of Mary and Rocky Mountain College. He played college football for Rocky Mountain College.
