Valley City State University

Alex Kretzschmar is in his first season as an assistant football coach for Valley City State University. His primary position responsiblity is coaching wide receivers.

Kretzschmar joins the Viking staff after working the previous three seasons as the offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator and camp coordinator for Dakota State University in Madison, S.D.

Prior to his time at Dakota State University, Kretzschmar also coached at Colby College (Maine) and St. Ambrose University (Iowa). He played collegiately at St. Norbert College (Wis.) and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. While coaching at St. Ambrose, Kretzschmar completed a master's degree in organizational leadership.
