Valley City State enters the weekend with a 3-7 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Frontier Conference play. The Vikings opened their conference schedule with a 3-1 victory at Mayville State before returning home to face Montana Western and Montana Tech.

VCSU battled Montana Western through five sets Friday before falling 3-2. The Vikings returned to the court Saturday and dropped a three-set match to Montana Tech.

Freshman outside hitter Kadie Kocka continues to provide an offensive spark after recently earning Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week honors. Freshman middle blocker Madysen Geist has also made an early impact at the net, while junior Ellie Lucas and sophomore Molly Bjorneby provide additional attacking options. Sophomore Madden Bogenreif and senior Gracie Schumacher help direct the VCSU offense.

The Vikings will look to build consistency during their first conference road trip of the season. Saturday's matchup will provide another early test as VCSU faces No. 7 Providence, its second nationally recognized opponent in as many weekends.
