VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Viking Men head to Montana this weekend for a pair of Frontier Conference games. The Vikings play University of Providence on Friday in Great Falls, Montanan and Montana State-Northern on Saturday in Havre, Montana.
The Vikings are 9-12 overall and 5-11 in the Frontier Conference. Providence is 3-19 overall and 3-13 in the conference. MSUN is 14-8 overall and 9-7 in the conference.
The last time Providence and VCSU got together, the Vikings ended a long losing streak with an 88-80 win over the at the Bubble on January 3
rd.
In that game,
Kaleb Larson and
JR Cison would combine to score the last 14 points of the game to lead the Vikings to the 88-80 win.
Larson had a team high 22 points and added six rebounds. Cison scored 20 points and handed out a season best seven assists.
Logan Deal had 16 points and 15 rebounds while
Joel Nelson chipped in ten points.
Taylor Bryant-Frey came off the bench to score eight points and
Caden Grinde added five.
Against the Northern Lights, the Vikings dropped a tough 82-75 decision. The Vikings led by as much as eight in the second half but could put the game away.
JR Cison led the team with 23 points.
Kaleb Larson had 19 points.
Joel Nelson had four points and nine rebounds.
Logan Deal tallied 10 points and seven rebounds.
Valley City State currently sits in eighth place in the conference standings. The top eight teams reach the conference tournament.
