MOORHEAD, MINN. – Valley City State University women's basketball concludes their first season in the Frontier Conference after falling 82-56 to #23 Rocky Mountain College in the last game of the regular season.
VCSU finishes the season 10-16 overall and 7-15 during the 22-game Frontier Conference season. RMC closes the season 20-8 overall and 17-5 in Frontier Conference games.
Rocky Mountain started the game out scoring the Vikings 10-2 in the first two and a half minutes. The Vikings closed the deficit to five after
JayCee Richter hit a three, making it 10-5. In the latter half of the first quarter, the Bears stretched their lead as big as 16 at 23-7.
Ellie Braaten responded a three to make it 23-10. The Vikings closed the first trailing 25-10.
A few times in the second, the Vikings got within ten after points from
Abby Aslesen and
Tiyana Schwinghammer. The half closed with a score of 40-27 in favor of RMC. VCSU shot 11/35 from the 5/13 from the three-point line and did not have any free throw attempts. They were led by
JayCee Richter, who had 11 points.
Ellie Braaten had six points and three assists.
In the third quarter, the Bears played a complete quarter of basketball, growing their existing lead and positioning themselves to close the game out in the fourth quarter. The third quarter ended at 68-42. RCM steadily paced the Vikings in the fourth, eventually capturing an 82-56 win.

JayCee Richter who scored 17 points, three rebounds, and an assist.
Ellie Braaten finished with 15 points and three assists. VCSU shot 21/66 from the field, 10/27 from the three-point line, and 4/5 from the free throw line. Rocky shot 33/66 from the field, 8/24 from the three-point line, and 8-14 from the free throw line.
